002.11 This name applies to the Breast, or landing place extending from a Boiler on the S.W.[South West] side of Water Street as far as the first bend, thence called "Steam Boat Quay" as far as the "West Quay". A person the name of Paton was the proprietor of the W. [West] side of Water Street, hence the name Paton's Quay.
