016.11 A block of Freestone built into the wall on the road leading to the Farm house of Ladlestone, there is a hollow in this Stone much like the hollow in the Common Ladle hence the name. This Stone is Situated at a bend in the occupation road 440 links south west from the public road and near the boundary between the Lands of Glenbervie and Lawgaven. There is another Stone Spoken of as the Ladle Stone this is Situated about 13 chains South west from the stone last mentioned, ( See stone 457 from fence.) This Stone is a large Granite boulder on the north side of the fence which forms the boundary between the Estates last mentioned. Mr Kerr has resided in the neighbourhood about 40 years and he says that he always understood the Stone at the corner of the road to be the proper Ladle Stone. __ " Really I cannot say which is the proper Stone" ( i.e. Ladle Stone) "but would consider the one nearest the House the proper one". (Statement by Mr Annandale Factor for Lawgaven.)
