020.05 | Some years ago there stood at this place a very large Cairn, Said to mark the place where a reputed Witch of the name of Catherine or Katie, was burnt. About 15 or 20 years ago the Cairn was looked upon with superstitious dread, and young people were afraid to pass it after dark. Mr Garland states that he carted away the whole of the stones to build fences. The name was well known. |
