006.07 About the year 1846, while the former tenant of Wester Kirkton, was levelling a hillock, a little to the northwest of the farm, and at a depth of three or four feet in the ground, he found a stone coffin. It was about four feet long, composed of rude slabs at the top, sides and ends, but contained no tangible trace of human remains, except some ashes found in one of the corners.
