OLD KIRK (in ruins) Continued Old Church (continued) 034 [Continued] in the Kingdom. In the Church Yard are several large vaults which appear to be the remains of part of the Cathedral. Many of the most distinguished personages including Kings, Queens and the highest nobles visited Whithorn & paid homage to the memory of this remarkable Saint, in 1473 Margaret Queen of James 3rd made a pilgrimage here & James 4th & his Queen during his reign made several pilgrimages to the Sepulchre of the Holy St Ninian. in 1513 the old Earl of Angus (Bell-the-Cat) made a pilgrimage to the reputed relics of Whithorn engaging before he set out to reform all disorders on his way .
