The depth is about 32 fathoms, the thickness of the seams of ironstone and coal is about 3 feet. It affords employment to about 30 men. The proprietor is James John Caddell Esq. who has the whole of his mines under a manager. There is an enclined plane extending from the Wheel House to Cowdenhill. On which the full waggons bring up the empty ones; the machinery for the process is in the wheel house (on which the ropes work) |
