079 This name applies to a Pictish Tower, situated about one half Mile to the East of Kilfedder farm Steading. this Tower is composed of two Circular walls each of which is four feet in thickness and standing about ten feet high above the general surface the diameter of the inner wall is about thirty feet and that of the outer about Sixty Six feet. The tower is surrounded by a rampart and Ditch in the form of a parallelogram. the relief of this rampart is abut five feet above the general Surface and that of the Ditch about five feet below the general Surface. The ground upon the East, South & West of this Tower for a distance of about three hundred yards is Covered with small heaps of Stones and earth and generally believed to be graves, as there is a tradition in the district that there was a battle fought here, but nothing appears to be known about the date of the battle neither the names of the Conflicting parties.
Further inquiry having been instituted regarding the Origin of these heaps of stones and the battle which was supposed to have been fought here disclosed the fact that there was no authority for supposing them to be graves or that a battle even took place in their vicinity they have therefore been omitted to be shown as such on the Ordnance Plans.
