016 | Applies to a dwelling House of 1 storey high. Situated on the North Side of the ''Public Road leading through ''A' Mhòine'' on a Tablet in the East gable is the following inscription. ''This house Erected for the refuge of the Wanderer. Serves to Commemorate the Construction of the road Across the Wet and dangerous Morass of the Mòine, Impracticable to Most, but the hardy, Active Nature, to him Even it was a day of toil and labor. This Road was made at the Sole Expense of the Marquis of Stafford. Those who feel not the delay, nor Experience the fatigue, and Suffer not from the results, And in tempereture incident to the former State of the Country. Can but Slightly Estimate the advantage of its present improved condition, or what it cost to procure them, To mark this Change, To Note these facts, to record this date, this inscription is put up, And dedicated by J. Loch Esqr.'' The house is Slated in Excellent repair, and the property of His Grace the Duke of Sutherland. |
