024.11 ; 024.12 ; 024.14 ; 024.15 ; 024.16 ; 025.13 A small but important River which rises near the roadside leading from Fintry to Campsie, and about midway between these two villages, from its source to within about 3 miles of Denny its banks are low and its waters generally sluggish, from this point to about ½ mile S [South] of Denny it is rapid, its banks rugged and precipitous, & thickly wooded, from this point to its confluence with the Firth of Forth it again assumes its sluggish course. its tributaries consists of the Grange Burn, Bonny Water, and a number of small streams of lesser note; at Larbert nearly the whole of the water is diverted through an artificial channell to a large reservoir for the working of the Carron Iron Works, about ½ mile
