028.09 | This work has been wrought for a very long time for coal - upwards of a century. Several old Pits & mines are filled up in the neighborhood of where the name is written. Lime has been worked for 25 years. The name applies now, as it is generally understood, between the Coal & Limestone Pit on this Trace, & the old Limekilns east (Trace 4. 28.10). This is an old well known name, & like Sculliongour & Glorat Works, should be retained (See the description of these works Trace 1 of this Plan & 4 of 27.8). The Derry Coal & Lime Works are on Glorat Estate, the property of Sir Samuel Stirling Bart. [Baronet] |
