013 A small cottage on the neck of Land between St. Mary's Loch and the Loch of
the Lowes. It is generally and very extensively known as. Tibby Shiels'
to both travellers and pleasure seekers and particularly to fishers frequenting
the Lochs, who mostly put up with Tibby. She keeps open house for all
respectable tourists, and travellers can obtain refreshment at her house.
In fact she is much patronised by the nobility & gentry in the fishing
& shooting seasons - she says that she is indebted to James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd, for her popularity - as he was, with his acquaintances, a constant visitor during his Literary career.
