Was erected in 1820 at an enormous Cost raised by assessment on the County, it is two Storeys high and Situated in the County Place, the first Storey Contains a Police Station, an Office for the Superintendent of Police, Town Council's Chambers, Police Court, Vestibule, Courthouse, Sheriff's Chambers, Sheriff Clerk's Chambers and record Room. The Second Storey Contains a Charter Room, Town Clerks Chambers, Town Chamberlains Chambers, County Hall, Justice of Peace Clerks Chambers, and County Police Office; as the name indicates it is for the use of the County as Well as for the Burgh. -
