016.03 The stone which occupies the Site marked an trace is now a gate pillar on the Side of Parish road about 14½ Chains from site in a S.E [South East] direction there is not anything particular about the Stone and if ever carved is now defaced but all who Know the object are of opinion that it is a Danish Stone.
"On close examination there are yet carved characters traceable, the sides of which more particularly would seem to represent a chain," - "The stone referred to, was, it is supposed, removed from its site shewn on trace, to make a Foot-bridge across the Stream a little South of the present Site:" Gd.
