"In the vicinity of the church, there is a large stone, with a hollow in the middle, which is called Saint Fillan's Seat; and near to that, there is a spring of water, called Saint Fillan's Well, which was formerly, in great repute, for its sanative virtues:" Chalmers' Caledonia, vol 3 page 837.
