"This parish was anciently
called Polloc or Pollok; and
this name was derived from the
Celtic Pol, Signifying a pool,
in a river or rivulet;
The extreme length of
this parish from E. [East] to W. [West] is
about 3½ Miles, from N. [North] to S. [South]
about 3. It is bounded on
the North by the Phs. [Parishes] of Govan and
Abbey, on the W. [West] by Abbey and
Neilston, on the S. [South] by Mearns
and on the E. [East] by Cathcart.
The antiquities of the
Ph. [Parish] are few and not very
interesting.
There is no part
of this parish detached, nor
is there a detached portion
of any other within this.
