106 This Cist, which is situated in the bank of a drain about 8 Chains S. of Wester Leafea, on the property of Mrs. Watt, Kierfiold, was discovered last year while the drain, in the west bank of which it is situated, was being cut. The passing of the drain through a hillock (which, since the discovery, is considered to be the remains of a large tumulus) necessitating its being cut to a depth of about 12 feet at the point indicated, The cist is about 4 feet in length and breadth, and 2 1/2 feet in depth, and is formed of slabs of stone about 3 inches in thickness, each side being formed of a single slab, Some of the stones were broken at the time of its excavation, but it is still sufficiently preserved to enable its original form to be distinctly seen, When opened it was found to contain three human Skeletons (afterwards, on their transmission to the Antiquarian Museum Edinburgh, pronounced to be that of
