001; 006 This name applies to a branch of the "Highland Railway" and worked by the "Highland Railway Company", it is 5 miles in extent, and leaves the Companies line between Forres and Keith at Alves Station, and after running in a Northern direction through the Parish of Alves it enters the Parish of Duffus at a point about 3 miles South of Burghead, it runs in a Northern direction through the Parish of Duffus and terminates at Burghead from which a good traffic is Carried on, Consisting chiefly of Coal, and Bones for the Mills at Forres, the traffic of late has increased greatly, owing to the closing of the Findhorn branch of the Highland Railway which necessitates the Cargoes being Consigned to Burghead instead of Findhorn as formerly. There is no Electric Telegraph on this line of Railway
