A large building extending from the front of George St. to the rear of Rose Street, It is approached by a small portico supported by 4 pillars of about 12 or 14 feet high, it was used as the Free Church College prior to the one erected on the mound. This building contains besides the church apartment, some other offices that is in connection with the church such as Library, reading room etc. The interior of the church apartment is well fitted up with galleries etc sufficiently commodious to contain about 1400 sittings. The Minister is the Rev. [Reverend] Mr. Nesbit whose stipend is paid out of the F. [Free] Church Sustentation fund.
