[Situation] About 14 chains NE [North East] of Trinity Chapel
A well on the bank of the Water of Leith which possesses considerable number of properties. It contains Sulphur Hydrogen gas and iron with a slight admixture of other salts. It is enclosed in a building over which is erected an open temple, formed of ten columns supporting a dome, in which placed a statue of the goddess Hygeia. It is the property & in the occupation of William Lauder. One penny Charged for each visit when using the water (See Name Book for sheet 15) Form 136
