This name applies to a group of buildings which ws originally occupied as a distillery but now used & for several years past as a malting establishment part occupied by the firm of Graham & Co. [Company] and the remaining part by the proprietor Mr Hague, but much ooc the buildings are unoccupied & empty.

[situation] Passing at the north side of Canonmills Distillery.
A Small river which runs within the parish of Mid Calder at a place called Wester Burn and after flowing Eastward under the name of Leith head Water and being joined at Balerno by the Barelaw passes Currie Colinton Broughton and empties itself into the Firth of Forth at Leith. It is remarKable for its great fall or descent and for its numerous mills having upward of 120 mills its whole course being about 14 miles.
