002 | [Situation] Extends from Great King Street at its junction with Dundas Street to Henderson Row & Eyre Place. If there are Toll gates - or other public gates, they should be noted here. Extends from Great King St. [Street] at its junction with Dundas St. [Street] - Northwards to Henderson Row Eyre Place and Brandon Street. This is situation See Column of Situation. The part of this Street north of the intersection of Fettes Row is constructed over an earthen mound by which the street is raised Considerably above the natural level of the Surface which is here quite low The houses in this street are well Constructed and in height from 3 to 4 Stories [Storeys], generally tenanted by respectable families. There are also a few shops. - At the north end of this Street was a Toll Bar which was disused in August last & will not be used any more. The collectors cottage & some of the gates are yet standing It was called Pitt Street Toll. The gates will be removed (it is expected) very shortly |
