002 | [Situation] S.W. [South West] of St Anthony Street. Thise Graveyard, according to the given authorities was enclosed by St Anthonys Street and Court, and the Town Wall, large quanties [quantities] of human bones have been got within this space, from time to time, which fully points out the extent the Graveyard occupied. "Attached to the preceptor was a church and burying ground and in its palmy days it appears to have been a very magnificent establishment Arnot describes it as having been situated on the west side of the Alley still denominated St. Anthony's Wynd Campbell in the history of Leith fixes its position at the South-west Corner of St Anthony's Wynd and near the Kirkgate while on the map of Leith as it appeared in 1560 it is represented as extending along all one side of St. Anthony's Street to the Kirkgate down which it Stretched to the entrance of Giles Street. There is no doubt whatever that part of the churchyard occupied the ground through which St. Anthony's Street now passes as large quantities of human bones were exhumed were exhumed when the street was opened for the purpose of laying gas pipes. These relics of humanity were in an extremely decayed State and Crumbled into dust on the Slightest pressure showing that they had long occupied the spot where they were discovered.
