The ancient Church of North Leith, founded in 1493 by Abbot of Holyrood. It was dedicated to St Ninian, and was supported by the customs collected from the old bridge, and the rental of certain tenements adjoining. It is a plain edifice surmounted by a spire, and although its original appearance is much changed, it still bears evident marks of antiquity. In 1826 after its interior had been dismantled it was converted into a granary.

Parish of North Leith

"North Leith Church is now no longer a place of worship.
In the course of the last year (1826) it was converted into a granary,
thus, that edifice which had for upwards of 330 years
been devoted to the Sacred purposed of religion, is now the
unhallowed repository of pease and barley"
