A Small reservoir or Cistern over which a house is erected It was built by the Town Trustees in 1832 and is in good repair The Cistern which is of Iron is Supplied from three different Springs the principal And most abundant is from a Spring which was found in the Channel of the North Esk in the year 1826 while Some workmen were boreing for Coal This Spring - which is Situated between Kerr's Iron Mill And the Wauk Mill, - is Said to rise by hydrostatic pressure of the fluid lodged in the curved or basin shaped Strata the other two Springs are Situated one at Viewfield or South Melville & the other at Melville Castle from each the water is Conveyed in pipes to the Reservoir
