This is a plain old building containing on the ground floor two apartmts [apartments] occupied by the Keeper Mr A Patterson. On the floor above are two rooms the principal of which is used as a lecture room by a Scientific Association & is called by that body Scientific Hall. This building formerly used as the Jail and Court Room & still called by the inhabitants the Old Jail the date of which is unknown.
