Parish of PenicuiK [Page] 11
[Note] The parish Church of PenicuiK was dedicated to St. [Saint] Kentigern or St. [Saint] Mungo. Mr JacKson inspector of Poor in PenicuiK and Sir George ClerK[e?] of PenicuiK House are opinion that the above ruins are that of St. [Saint] Kentigern but they Say that the tower which is now almost the only part at present Standing was built, or at least repaired, and modernised by Sir George ClerKe's grandfather who also made alterations to the church. "The parish church of PenycoK bore the name of St. [Saint] Kentigern "as late as 1733." see Chalmers Caledonia vol. [volume] 2. P. [Page] 810
