012 A handsome mansion house built around the ancient Tower of Fulford, it consists of a large square tower in the style which characterizes the Baronial residences of the 17 Century Thus tower covers the space occupied by the ancient Fulford, and is surrounded by handsome buildings in the English style of architecture it is surrounded by a small but prettily laid out demesne, and approached from the east by an avenue skirted with trees, a little south of the house stands a gothic arch of great antiquity with a gravel walk passing under it, it is ivy mantled and presents a very venerable appearance, it was brought from the Old Woodhouselee and placed here for ornament, a little west of the house at different distances, stand two pedestals about 9 feet high, surmounted each by an urn and bearing Greek and Latin inscriptions. They were erected by a late proprietor to commemorate favourite spots. - The present proprietor is William Tytler Esqr. [Esquire] Woodhouselee.
