A rocky and steep chasm through which the "Logan Burn" runs or rather falls in several cascades, the noise of the water as it falls from shelf to shelf is heard at a great distance, it is said to be the "Halbie's How" of Ramsay's "Gentle Shepherd" but this is disputed by the admirers of the North Esk at "Newhall House" the late proprietor of which caused the names of the rural objects depicted in this poem, to be applied to similar objects upon his estate.
