010 A commodious mansion erected about 30 years ago It is a substantial rectangular building four Storeys High and pleasantly Situated in a Small ornamental Park, well wooded and containing Several Small ornamental ponds A very neat walled in Garden and a Complete Farm Steading. The mansion is approached on the N [North] and South by a good carriage road and at each Boundary of the demesne is a neat porters lodge. The House is Supplied with Water of an excellent quality from a Spring at Harburnhead at a distance of 1/2 a mile and sufficiently high to give natural pressure for the upper Storey of the house. At the Farm Steading is a small coal Gas Works from which Gas is supplied to the mansion, through the Farm Steading; and to the cottages in connection. The Demesne adjoins the Caledonian Railway at Harburn Station 15 miles from Edinburgh is the property of and occupied by James Cochrane Esq. It was formerly called Hayfield
