Two middling sized fields, on the farm of Southfield, the surface of which are arable, supposed to have been the property of the Nunnery at Cousland, and to have been called after St. Barthoiomew. This information is received from Mr. Pearson.
"That there was a church yard here and a bell to be seen hanging in the end of the chapel till it was carried of by some tinkers are facts supported by the testimony of some people still alive. Hence it is probable that it was a religious foundation and perhaps dedicated St. Bartholomew since there are some acres of ground to the Southward which retain the name of Bartholomew's Firlot".
