Running North West and South from Bow Bridge | This is part of the great Roman Road which extended from York to Carriden. The site of this road is well ascertained for the distance of about a mile North from Lothianburn. The present occupier of part of the land through which this runs lately removed from a short space several 100 cart loads of stones which formed a durable pavement of consederable thickness and which evedently formed part of the ancient road |
