[North] side of the demesne of Prestonfield House This is a branch railway belonging to the North British Line it is about 3 1/2 miles in length and joins the North British Line at Niddry Station and terminates at St Leonards [---] where an extensive Coal [---] is kept. This line was formerly Called the Edinburgh and [---] Railway. and horses were employed instead of engines. It was [---] miles in length and at 3 1/2 miles from St Leonards Depot a branch was constructed to Musselburgh and another to Leith. Subsequently the North British line was constructed and joined with this line and [opened] in 1846 The line with its branch was purchaced by the North [---] Company. There are no passengers [---] to or from St. Leonards station since
