005 The object to which this name applies, is a ruin, Situate S. [South] of the Village of Corstorphine, which was levelled with the ground about 50 years ago It was the residence of the Foresters, a name of great Celebrity in Scottish History and occupied by one of the Family so late as 1695 In former times this castle is said to have been Surrounded by a ditch which was supplied by water from two lochs situated one on each side of the castle as represented in Blaue's Atlas of Lothian prepared in 1640 There is a Dovecott or Pigeon House about 7 chains N.E. [North East] of the Castle, Said to be as ancient as the castle and at present is in good preservation and used as a pigeon House
