[Situation] On the North Side of the London Road and South of the North British Railway near Jocks Lodge Toll Bar. A neat and spacious military barracks, build in the form of a quadrangle, and capable of containing a regiment of Cavalry. These barracks were built in 1793, and called "Piershill" in honour of Colonel Piers who occupied a vila on the sopt in the reign of George II., and at the same time commanded a regiment of Cavalry Stationed in Edinburgh. |
