The grave of Robert Ferguson the poet it is surround by a chain hung on Iron post and a head stone erected to his memory by his brother poet Robert Burns, on each of the stone are the following inscriptions, Robert Ferguson Poet Born September 5th 1751 Died October 16th 1774 No sculptured marble here nor pompous lay No storied urn nor animated bust, This simple stone directs pale Scotia's way To pour here sorrows o'er the poets dust. By special grant of the managers to Robert Burns who erected this stone this burial place is to remain for ever sacred to the memory of Robert Ferguson,
