GRANTON Granton (Continued) 002 facing east and west, of which form the principal entrance to the pier, they are three storeys high not including area flat. The rest of the buildings are of smaller dimensions and neat in proportion containing a few shops but however small the prospect may be at present of this place rising into importance, it will no doubt in the course of time form the principal communicative and commercial point Northwards. It contains an extensive harbour, well sheltered & an extensive Breakwater for steam vessels, at which docks and other ship building improvements are carrying on rapidly. + Eastward and another in contemplation westward of a similar construction.
SCHOOL [Granton] 002 A little eastward [of Granton harbour?] is a Schoolhouse Which is subdivided, one part for girls the other for boys, who receive the rudiments of a good education. The average attendance of the former being the latter [?]
