001 A country mansion house erected in 1625 and in the style of architecture which characterised that period. it is 3 stories high having a large circular abutment at its north east angle, this projection commences upon the ground and terminates in a spire a little above the roof of the building several circular abutments spring from the building at the 2nd story and also terminates in spires at the same height as the larger one. the house stands upon the south margin of gogar Burn in a beautful arable plain. it is approached by an avenue (skirted with trees) from the Edinburgh & Glasgow road. it is the property of C Ramsay Esq of Barnton
