023.15 | This monument was erected after the passing of the reform Bill in memory of James Wilson on the site of the house in which he once resided. It is of freestone about 8 feet high of a pyramidical shape without an inscription. It is situated in an enclosure adjoining the grave-yard in which his body was interred. He was beheaded at Glasgow on the 30th August 1820, for being concerned in the rebellious rising of the Inhabitants of Strathaven which took place in that year. His age was 63 years. |
