011.16 A large, mixed, Plantation on the side of the Bothwell T.P. Road, between Bothwell Bridge & the Lodge house opposite Al[-]neida Street - on 1/500 scale. It is commonly called "Barmichael Wood". There are some old oak trees in it which belonged to the pleasure grounds before the Plantation was made - 30 years ago.
An old tree was cut down some[--] in this Plantation, near Bothwell Bridge, & was found to be perforated in many places by bullets supposed to have been fired at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge.
There are many green lanes through "Barmichael Plantation".
The origin of this name is not known.
