050 Site of the Grey Friars monastery which Mr Nicholson and several respectable persons says stood between the present Castle, and the Old Church (or School of Industry) and that the Old Church was built on a portion of the Graveyard attached to it, underneath the Old Church is to be seen to this day a sepulchre which was the burial place of the McClellands of Bombie. the Monastery is supposed to have been erected in or about the 11th Century, and that it was a famed pace for learning no more tradition can be gleaned respecting it.

050 A house in the North side of St Cutherberts Street. Purchased a few years ago by the Rev [Reverend] Mr Train officiating Clergyman and the R [Roman] Catholic congregation here since then they converted the upper part of the house and seated it for public worship and the under part is let to tenants it is attended by the Rev [Reverend] Mr Train who comes here once every four weeks
Note this is called a Roman Catholic Station in the Catholic Circular - and is attended by the RC [Roman Catholic] Clergyman resident in Dalbeattie
