This name applies to a large and beautiful Park for the use of the inhabitants of "Dundee" to whom it was presented by Sir David Baxter, Bart [Baronet] of Kilmarnon and after whom it is named "Baxter Park" it is Situated a mile from Dundee to the East and is entered from both the "Forfar and Arbroath Roads" and at the entrance from each of these Roads there is a neat Lodge of one Storey occupied by the Head and Under Gardeners respectively. the park is laid out with shrubbery's flower Plots and in front of the Pavilion there is a Terrace running from side to side of the Park and immediatly in front is a large space used as Cricket Grounds and for other Sports and Excersises, this park Cost, in purchasing and laying out the grounds the Sum of £75,000, and was thrown open to the Public on the 9th.
