There are only two schools of importance, one of which belongs to the Free Church, the other to the public, There are two large - and three minor Inns in the village, There is a large Manufactory in Course of erection at the west end of the village, which - when finished - will afford employment for between 400 & 500 persons, The villagers obtain perpetual feus of their allotments from the Misses Kinloch, who are the superiors of the place, A small portion of this village is situated in the Ph. [Parish] of Panbride, It is lighted with gas Two fairs are held yearly in Carnoustie, during the months of May & November. The former a Cattle fair, and the latter for hireing servants. |
