026 A Creek or indenture in the bay of the Firth of Forth a little to the east side of Elie Harbour on the foreshore it is of natural formation about 6 chains & 12 or 13 long its foreshore consists of sand shingle Bolders and flat rocks. it is bounded on both sides by a ridge of large broken rocks. Here a harbour could easily be constructed for ships of the greatest burden (at H.W.) [High Water] and in to which lesser ships might enter at low water but nothing in this way has ever been attempted here. Wood imported to Elie Harbour is usually thrown out of the vessels & floated in by this Creek, hence the name.
