[Note] "Called the King's Cellar being intended, it is probable for the storage of all imports for the royal table at Dunfermline the upper part of which is now used as a Schoolroom has upon it an ancient stone bearing the date 1551" (1581 it should be) " the Panhouse in the same village has the date 1613" (The Panhouse is removed.) Revd. [Reverend] Mr Johnson thinks this Cellar was used by the Monks of Dunfermline. I have seen Mr, Chalmers and he thinks it may have been used by the Monks as well as by the King - It is well known by the name of the Kings Cellar in the neighbourhood. [initialled] M:K
