Note: Tumulus -The late Col [Colonel] Miller in his Inquiry respecting the Site of the battle of Mons Grampius P44 Archaeologia Scotica, notices the vessels found by Mr Flockhart thus,
"Some Urns were found at L seven or eight
years ago full of bones *; one of which I saw
It was preserved several years and broken by accident
after which not only the bones, but also the Urn itself crumbled into dust."
* There is evidently a mistake on some side between Mr Flockhart who found the vessels & Col [Colonel] Millers description. Mt Flockhart distinctly states that there were no bones in the Pots as he calls them when discovered, but one thing is certain the Pots or Urns were found and generally supposed to have been Roman.
