019 Parish of Carnbee. A small village consisting of a number of rows of small dwelling houses detached in different directions they are from one to two storys high but chiefly the former and generally in good repair and occupied by tradesmen and agricultural labourers there is one Public house & Grocers shop. a Free Church and School there is no Post Office or other public building of any kind. It is (save some feus) the property of J.M. Hogg Esq. An iron cross is said to have formerly stood in or near this village. Nothing is now known of its whereabouts or of what it represented. The name is supposed to be a Corruption from the name "Iron Cross"
