A monument erected to the memory of John 4th Earl of Hopetoun. It is about 100 feet in height and 14 in diameter having within a winding stair to a square turret on its summit, The following is the inscription, "This monument was erected to the memory of John fourth Earl of Hopetoun by his Affectionate tenantry in East Lothian. A.D. 324,"
