006 [Situation] In the W. [West] End of the village of Whitkirk
An ancient edifice in the plain Gothic style, surmounted by a square tower; supposed to have been erected about the beggining of the 15th century. It is seated for the accomodation of about 500, and it has a small burying ground attached. In the year 1839 it underwent a thorough repair. The present incumbent is the Rev. [Reverend] James Lang whose stipend averages £350 per annum. It is the parochial church for Whitekirk & Tynninghame.

"The present church of Whitekirk is a very venerable edifice
Surmounted by a square tower and lately put into excellent
repair. It is ninety-six feet above the level of the sea
and is supposed to have been built before the end of the fifteenth
century,"
