029 | [Situation] 6⅔ miles N W [North West] by W [West] from Minnyhive A large projecting mass of Rocks on the brow of a great height which forms the Summit of a high district of rocky mountain grass land. The termination learan in this name is very descriptive of the nature of the land that is lea, (grass land enclosed,) and .ran, which should be .rand. which Signifies a narrow stripe, border, Seam, or [even] a stripe of any thing whatever, from this it would appear that the name should be written Craiglearand Craig , Compounded of Creag and Lirian that is the Soft- slaty Crag which is well known to be descriptive of locality. |

Craiglirian Craig - Descriptive Remarks - line 8 - there are dots either side of the underlined word rand - not sure if this should be transcribed as 'rand' or not. Likewise ran - although the second punctuation mark looks more like a comma and lea hasn't been given the same treatment.Jerkney Burn - Descriptive Remarks - there is a faint line of text between the two paragraphs which I think reads - "So called from the harsh [sound]"
