FORT [Millyett] | Camp Camp |
Simon Park Crurie Andrew Halliday Shepherd Castlehill |
026 | [Situation] About 21 Chains West of Midyett This camp appears to be of British origin situated on the top of "Bessies Hill" behind a large precipitous rock facing the road leading from Davington to Castleo'er and occupying a very powerful position over the said road or pass. Its position being natuarally strong and supported (about ten chains in the rear) by another camp a small number of men would be able to retain their position against an overwhelming army - attacking them from the road. |
